Be careful parking.

I'm not used to this car yet (an SS version so I'm not sure if it's the same for the 6 cylinder models) as to how far away I am from sidewalk curbs parking head in. I pulled up to one to park today and thought I was much further back then I actually was. Well the curb was JUST low enough that the front slid over it. It did scratch the hell out of the underside of the spoiler, I guess that's what it is, the part that comes to the point. Not a giant deal no one will ever see it but a bummer all the same. I look at it this way, at least I got to put the first blemish on the car and not some jerkoff with his door. I never realized how low these were, I can't imagine having the ground effects on top of the regular SS's low front.

It's probably more because a Tahoe is my DD and I'm just so used to kissing the front wheels on the curb. Bad habit I know, and I paid the price. :(

yeah, this car is really wide and low. Like somebody said in another post, make some stands out of PVC pipes and place them in a wide open area and practice parking this thing. It's the only way to "learn"

yeah thats something you just gotta get used to. After a while you'll get a feel for where your nose is at though.

Im in the same boat man, I went to park the car at a gas station, and pulled up just a little too far and scraped the underside. Like you Im used to kissing the curb with my tires on my lifted Dodge Ram. Guess that will teach us truck drivers.

Well, I had gone over this smaller concrete wheel stop placed in front of the real curb in a Barnes and Nobles parking lot. Once I got the car in front, I couldn't see the smaller wheel stop and did park perfectly as if the curb was it.. When I got out I saw the smaller wheel stop was just below the bumper but the black wind spoiler underneath the front bumper got bent up.. Somehow it survived but I know I loosened it a bit... I was really upset since it wasn't even my fault. You had to know it was there..

For those who have driven both: does driving / parking the 2010 have a similar feel to the 4th gen? I know it took me a while to get a feel for my '98 and I'm hoping the experience will help with my '10.

The 5th GEN is harder to park I think. You can't see the front end at all, and it's really hard to tell how far you can back into a space.

Whew, I'm glad I'm not alone then, I was beating myself up a little thinking I'm 43 and don't know how to drive yet.

As a 4th gen and 5th gen driver let me tell you they are nothing alike when it comes to parking. The 5th gen is much harder to park both going forward and backing in.

The Camaro is low but it ain't nothing like a Z06, you really gotta be careful with it.

Hmm, you guys aren't reassuring me any here. I'm an expert and pulling too far up to the curb and scraping bumpers. I even managed to crack the bottom edge of a car on the curb. I better learn to go slow and be careful.

One thing I won't do is parallel park. I made a promise to myself that after I passed my driver's test I would never parallel park again.

Yea those noses will be messed up soon enough. 1978 all over again... (that's a good thing.. not a complaint). At least the paint does not seem to crack like 2nd gen when you flex the bumpers.

Don't try to get anywhere close to the curb! Think about how many vehicles are longer than your car (SUVs, pick-ups, luxury cars, vans, etc.) You can leave a foot or two between your front bumper and the curb and the rear bumper of many other vehicles will still be sticking out farther than yours! Most of the time when you're the first person on a row to park away from the curb, everyone around you will follow suit and park back a bit, too.

Vash, do you still have the C4 in your avy? Those aren't any picnic to judge the front either. I bashed mine pretty hard once into a pole, they seemed to be able to take it pretty well though thankfully. And yes it was right after I got that one also. Maybe I should just give up parking head in.
