Exhaust Soot

Hi Folks

Do any of you get a lot of exhaust soot on your rear valance and around the rear quarter panel.
I do a lot of city driving would a lot of city driving versus highway driving cause this.
I was going to take it out and give it a good burnout or would it help.I had a breather cap filter on it at one time and had to remove because the valve would stick and the back of the car was always getting covered with exhaust soot.
The car was just taken out of winter storage.Any suggestion on what would help this problem would be much appreciated.

My ZL1 gets the soot pretty regularly, but mostly on the rear diffuser or bumper.

City driving can lead to more carbon buildup. What brand of gas do you use? On my 2012 Silverado 6.2 I changed to Exxon 93 and get no more buildup like I used to get on most other fuel brands. Don't know if it's the additive package or what......all I know is that my vehicles like Exxon gas and my tailpipes run clean.

I do an equal amount of city and highway driving and I haven't noticed any soot other than a small amount in the exhaust tips. I run BP 93.

No probs here, just the usual. My LNF did make a lot of exhaust soot but I was sitting in much more traffic at the time

No I'm running stock,no engine mods etc.I am using high test gas 93 octane.
Would a fuse pull do anything for this type of issue, like I said I is mostly city driven. It looks horrible on the quarter panel and bumper after a short drive, but what gets me is the exhaust tips looks fairly clean, not really soothed up.
The engine appears to be idling fine ,no hesitation etc like it might need wires/plugs etc. it only as 14,000 kms on it.
Thanks folks for the reply's much appreciated.

My stock SS is the same way. After just a few days the sides of my Summit White rear bar cover gets
soot covered. I use nothing but Mobil 93 and the car runs fine so I'm not really worried about it.

Yes mine is like like yours,it's just looks dirty and I'm a clean freak when it comes to my car and things etc.
At least mine is not the only one with this issue, which pretty much convinces me the engine is OK. ,have to live with it I guess.

sucks your out of warranty. but these cars should not be doing that. If you were tuned it could have been the tune. somethings causing you to run too rich.

I've still got almost 4 months of drive train warranty left. Maybe I'll have
my local dealer check it out.
