mine is about 27 psi at hot idle or little less (my gauge is in kpa ranging from 0-500 kpa 250 being the middle 125 is quarter of the gauge mine is between 125 and 250 so i would assume 187.5 kpa or less)
stock ls3 (0 mods) on higher rpms it goes all the way to 375 kpa(54 psi) just had oil changed at dealership stock dexos oil i believe the same weight as on oil cap on a side note my oil pressure increase rather slowly takes considerable amount of time to build up pressure but holds steady pressure on certain rpm, at idle sometimes it flactuate a little please post your hot idle oil pressure, oil and weight and any other concerns or thoughts |

Sounds like you have no worries......normal. I have used 15w40 and 0w30 and the pressure is the same. Oil pressure will seem stronger after oil changes.

just so you all know are cars engines the ls3 is designed to run 30 weight, heavier oil may starve the top end.......... and the stock melling is for 30 weight, and I run about 30 give or take hot and that's good. I used to run small block chevys with high volumes and it would go down to 20 and worry me but never gave a problem on any of the engines. Of course cold the oil pressure with a stock oil pump and my cam is way up there until it gets hot.

@Denis thats way much higher than my pressure
my pressure gauge has this 0 to the left 250 in the middle 500 to the right with 2 more splitters making it 0 125 250 375 500 mine is between 125 and 250 kpa probably half the distance and a little less so i would guess 187.5 to 156.25 kpa which turns to 27 psi and 22 respectively my car is drivin very softly without abuse also our temp here is higher my oil temp reach a little higher than 100'c roughly 220'f while your picture its still below 200'f (was your car fully warmed up?) thanks for your input |

Post a pic of it at warm idle if you can. If it is really hot it still should be right around the middle maybe just a little below but not much.

Do not run heavy weight oil, the clearances are very tight & running heavy oil could cause damage.
I've only seen Dexos approved oil in 5w-30 & I think 5w20. |
