Heat shield removal??

Has anyone removed the rear heat shield by the gas tank and had any problems? (driveshaft is rubbing on it and making horrible rubbing/vibration noise). Yes I've already tried to bend/shape the heat shield to not rub.

I have removed the front one that goes between the driveshaft and exhaust a long time ago with no issues, just wondering about the rear one because its right by the gas tank. Anyone had any problems with it removed or should I leave it? Really want to take it off but not sure about the risk.

Is your car lowered?

I would not remove a factory heat shield next to a gas tank. lol

Mine has been off the car for three years... Making lots of power, and tons of heat... No issues... I'm not saying to remove it, but mine is long gone... 4" one piece driveshaft...

Take it to your local Chevy service manager and ask him/her if it would be okay (safe) to remove it. Maybe they'll be straight up with you since you (I assume) are out of warranty.

Did this issue start when you put the non-stock drive shaft on?

Might be worth contacting Dynamat and ask if this would work http://www.dynamat.com/automotive-an...dio/hoodliner/ .
