will bigger rims affect 1/4 mile times

I have a 2ls and like to take it to the track sometimes and have some fun... I am thinking about going from 18'' rims to 22'' would this affect my 1/4 mile time ???

Yes. Very much so. Especially if they're heavier.

Yes, they'll slow you down quite a bit

Yeah, you'll want the 18s for drag strips and such.

What size are the tires? If they are taller than a 28.6" diameter, it will also be hurting you in the gear department. For example, a 285/35/22 is 29.9" tall...

28.6/29.9=0.9565x2.92 = (your new effective gear ratio of) 2.793:1

It would hurt you in a lot if ways. Worse braking, worse acceleration, probably handle worse, worse city Mpg...

I've never understood the whole big wheel thing myself, but different strokes for different folks. 18" is my limit.

I understand the importance of making the car look the way you want, but would 20's be too small for your liking? I feel that's the best balance of size to performance for many people. You still have some room for tire height/ride comfort with 20's as well, and you can also have the low profile tire look (albeit not as low profile as tires for 22's are). Either way make sure to post pics of your new wheels!

I don't like big wheels either but I think the Camaro needs a 19" or 20" to look real nice. And 20s are definitely the perfect balance of looks, tire choice, and performance in my opinion.

I also think 20's are the perfect balance
... I'm just waiting for my P zeros to die and I'm leaving the factory 21's forever and smiling on the way out ! Light weight 20's are the ticket.

I saw a 2011-ish body style Camaro yesterday with 22's. Granted they were really cheap looking rims and it looked like hell in my opinion. I'd stick with 20's. If you want to use the car for drag racing slap some wide and light 18's and some nice sticky rubber.

Light weight 20s are my suggestion, any greater than that and you're losing...
