Mine is an A6, so unless I manually place it in gear, I would not know. I suppose it hits a rev limiter in some way.

It cuts the power at red line. It can be rather embarrassing if you hit it will running someone.

Engine stops getting gas, then car slams on brakes, turns itself off, opens the door by itself and says kindly, Please Step Out of the Camaro, You Do Not Deserve The Right Too Drive Me.

I've done this in 2nd going into the esses at Watkins Glen, with the HUD shift light in my face.
Would've slammed my wienie in the door, but the door seams are too far apart.

When you hit redline, the amount of hair on your chest instantly doubles.

Not to bring too much seriousness into this good thread, but I believe the stock rev limiter cuts fuel not spark.

Now lets get back to the body parts in the door jokes...

Old school was to cut spark but you'd get a bit of dieseling at times, better to kill both. Don't know what zl1 does, I'm at 950. I'll let you know in 550 miles.
