Cool! Thanks for posting!

I'd love to know the weight, my guess 45 lbs.

My guess is AGM technology. It's a lead/cadium battery chemistry that uses fiberglass separators. Lighter and longer life. The CTS-V has a similar sized unit in the trunk.

Dumb ass guess:

Relocate to under passenger seat. Remove long/heavy positive cable, and steel bracket.
Use LiFePO4 chemistry with a BMS to avoid low voltage discharge.

Unlike lead technologies, once you take a Li battery down to under 1.5v per cell, it often will not recover. It becomes trash.

Total weight savings classify under Corner weight, and would be perhaps 20lb total, mostly the cable savings.

Tempting. Expensive, but oh so tempting. New category: battery porn...

SEE DETAILS HERE

12V/40Ah Lithium Ion Battery with BMS - L4840 -- $1,683.16

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The L4840 is the perfect choice for your high-end German or exotic car. The Group 48 size is a drop-in replacement for many vehicles taking 48, 49, 94R, and others from the factory. Often, it is even possible to use the factory mounting provisions. This unit offers greater reserve capacity than any of our other 12V products, in order to meet the demands of today’s sophisticated electronic loads. Cranking performance is also improved—this battery will crank over large V8s, V10s, V12s, and even diesel engines! In short, the is the ideal replacement for your factory battery, allowing you to take up to 50 pounds off your car with NO discernible difference in performance. The same cell pack is also available as the L3400 for applications where a Group 34 size is better-suited.

All L series batteries feature a full Battery Management System to monitor the cell pack and ensure maximum cycle life. This includes low-voltage, high-voltage, over-current, short-circuit, and thermal protection built directly inside the battery. In the event of an issue with the cell pack, the BMS will turn off power to the terminals, isolating the cell pack and preventing failure. All L series batteries come with a 2-year, full-replacement warranty against any defect in materials or craftsmanship.

For some reason I remember a 45-pound weight on the OEM battery. God knows where, but that stuck in my head...
