Dome light help

I apologize for even posting this but I need a little help. My car was delivered to the dealer last night and while performing my inspection I found that the interior dome light does not work when the driver's door is opened. Unfortunately the mechanic doing the PDI can't resolve the problem. Can anyone provide me with a fix to tell them? They have already tried programming the interior lights but that has not worked. Any clues? They will not release my car until this probem is resolved. PLEASE HELP. I'd really love to take my car home tonight if possible.

And, dare I ask this question.... Did you check the light switch to see if it was in the correct position on the dome light.

all the way to the left it is off completely, middle position - it lights up when door opened, and all the way to the right it turns on permanently. (See attached from Owners Manual)

Just asking and not trying to be a wise guy here.

I had a similar question about another vehicle I owned and low and behold, it was how the switch was positioned.

This from the owners manual:

YES that was the first thing I checked. When the switch is in the middle postion the light won't come on when the driver's door is opened. It does light up when the passenger door is opened. Same thing occurs when you exit the car and it dims...passenger works..drivers does not.

Luckily I saw this on that checklist (before it was removed; #53) and knew to check ensure this worked. So someone else on this site had this same problem...now if that person would only chime in.

Check the little plunger inside your door to see if it is sticking?

I had an old truck where that happened. The switch was faulty on the inside and the guts inside would stay stuck on 'door closed mode' even though the plunger was out. I eventually had to buy a new door switch, but it took me awhile to figure it out.

I'm sure you already checked but, is the bulb good? It's one of the obvious things that may sometimes get overlooked. You can also check that voltage is getting to the actual bulb by looking at it with a voltmeter. This will tell you if it's a line problem or a light housing issue. That's all I got at the moment without further info.

Dumb question but did you check the bulb if it was blown? also check the voltage in the socket.

I think the switch is now part of the door latch itself.

NUTS!

Sorry I would have checked for myself, but I am away on business, and my baby is about 2000 miles away :(
