Interesting GA tag story
I just called GA DMV. I was inquiring about when to get tags for the Camaro. I was told I could avoid paying 2009 taxes, personally amounting to $527, if I purchase the car after September 19th. I expect the car to arrive in September.
NOTE: The September date was formulated according to my birth date, which is in November. Lesson: Think about asking your DMV to calculate whether or not you will have to pay 2009 taxes , or will be able to avoid and not have to pay taxes until 2010. Hope this helps. |

What taxes are you talking about? if you pay a state sales or excise tax this year, it is deductible on your 2009 income taxes.

It's the GA state tag tax, which is based on the value of the car. So, it's not the sales tax. I don't know that the tag tax would be deductable. Actually, now that I think about it, you're right, I think that is deductable too. Thank you for your input.
