Blew The Pfadt Cats out
So I got on the gas the other night I hear a loud BANG!!! Sounded like my exhaust flew off. I pull over and look under the car and saw the clamp after the hi Flow cats had come loose so I decided to head home and park it because it sounded like open headers.
The following day I pull the Cat off. At first I could see pieces of metal hanging outside the clamp and after removing the clamp and cat I grab a flashlight and look down the the OEM Pipe and see the cat completely crushed pushed down stuck in the bend of the OEM Xpipe/Cat Back. I Pull most of it out but a large piece was stuck in the bend so I put it back together and drive hoping it would blow through BAD IDEA now it's quiet and whistles must be more in their than I expected. So my question is should I drive it hard or will that mess things up because I'm now at a loss their are no separations in the exhaust so it's not like I can take it apart in Pieces and pull or push crap out right? Car does bog at some RPM's I'm just really scared to get on it ya know? Suggestions. Car is heavily modified we made 635HP on a Mustang Dyno it's running 17# of boost on Methanol. |

Boost destroys cats. Get a set of catless midpipes and you'll be fine.

And I found this out the hard way LOLOL.
So can I drive it or will the reduction in back pressure on that one side because of the clog mess things up? |

You shouldnt be driving with clogged exhaust. Get something and punch them out.

Here we go, another story of a failed "high flow" cat. I have told many people to leave the Cats off unless you want trouble. Like was stated previously you are going to have to remove the exhaust system and try to get all of that crap out of your exhaust pipes and mufflers. Sorry bro.

I blew mine out at the track today! Was advised not to get on it hard and drive as little as possible. Removing mine tomorrow.

The factory tune has a CAT overheat protection. Many turners disable this feature. I would be curious to know if your tune has this disabled. Ted from Janetty has discussed this in the past. Supposed to be that a good tune with COT you will not blow up the CATs if they are properly sized.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...92&postcount=8 Modded cars it is always a challenge getting this to behave like a stock car. For me I don't want my car to smell like an old rusted out pickup truck so CATs are a must.
