Correct me if I'm wrong, but...

...it seems like the best way to start improving the stock sound system in my 2012 SS vert is to upgrade the stock amp. At least that's what I've been reading.

For me, the bass in my car is satisfactory for now. Two things I don't like is the stereo is just not quite loud enough and I feel the mid and high end breaks up when turned up all the way.

I'm not going for a window shattering system, just a really nice sounding one. I'm pretty into good quality stuff- I have had multiple Kenwood, Boston Acoustics, etc.

Anyway, if you would be so kind as to give some input I would appreciate it. And if you have any recommendations on an amp/door speakers I would appreciate it!

What is the goal you are trying to reach? There are numerous threads in the audio section with lots of tips/advice. Have you looked/searched there first?

A moderately louder sounding system with crisper mids and highs. Yes I've been spending time researching, thanks for responding.

I just want a simple setup maybe an amp with new door speakers. I heard about the popping sound when turning the radio on and off and want to try and avoid that, but it sounds like it's related to the radio itself.

An amp upgrade will help. And in general, you don't want the volume control to exceed about 80%. Distortion causes damage, and most systems will start to distort as you reach max volume.

Thanks! Think I might go with an Alpine, as people seem to like it.

I am interested in the same thing myself on my 2012 Vert. So what model Amp are you going with? Am also going to replace the stock Sub while I'm at it. All the threads on this subject that I found are all from 2011 or so? A lot has changed in 2 years in the audio world!!
