QUESTION ABOUT PAINT

Recently had someone key my car on the passanger quarter panel all the way down into the fiber glass. Had to strip the fender completly and sand down the key mark (just wait till i find this person). Getting ready to prime the fender but was wondering if there was a certain kinda primer i needed to use since the fender is not metal.

I found this little how-to, not too sure if it answers your question, but it might:

Is this the rear quarter?? That is metal.

I have a scuff on my front fender (from vandals/malicious driver in a parking lot) which is the flexible (non fiberglass) composite material, the body shops quoted me $1100 to $1700 for this repair back in 2002. I have not had it repaired (it will only happen again)... so the fender has to be entirely stripped?? there is no way to fill the scuff & just re-finish?... a bondo job on metal would not cost this much. The clear coat is starting to develop some hairline cracks near the scuffed area.

It is the front quarter panel. So its not metal. Unfortunately i was told that the entire panel neededto be stipped because there was more than one key mark. It actually went down into the composite material on the fender so i even had to sand that down until it was gone. Ive never primed anything before that was not metal so i didn't kno if there was a certain kind of primer that adheres better to a non metal surface or if any automotive primer will work?
