How It's Made: Flowmaster Mufflers Shop Tour

The staff of Hot Rod Magazine made a trip up to Northern California last week to check out the NASCAR race at Sonoma Raceway. While they were here, we took them on a tour of our Sacramento production facility. The article that followed, "How It's Made: Flowmaster Mufflers Shop Tour" is full of great photographs and provides wonderful insight into our manufacturing processes. Enjoy!

Question Matt:

Regarding Flowmaster Mufflers ....
Why is drone so bad?
What has been done to silence the drone?
-
I had Flowmaster mufflers on my 2002 Camaro SS and 1993 Corvette, and both systems made so much drone I was forced to go back to stock.

Thx.

Exhaust "drone" can be attributed to several factors such as, choosing the wrong muffler for the application, lack of a crossover, the type of hanger used during installation, incorrect tubing size, stall converters, gear ratios, overdrive transmissions, catalytic converters, real or knock-off products, etc.

There are a number of reasons that ANY aftermarket exhaust can drone. To prevent this from happening, I always suggest that people speak with a qualified company tech prior to purchase.
