Chrome Wheels

Hey guys...I have got word from the dealer that my car is in route...how exciting. Anyways, I am getting the 2SS and it is coming with the painted wheels...I am not a big fan of painted black wheels. Does anybody know where I could get the factory 20" wheels in real chrome...not polished.
Thanks for the help.

I think you will like the wheels more when you see them, but I know that you will have to go aftermarket for chrome wheels because GM only has polished.

the above is TRUE, OR if you had money to get rid of, you could take the factory wheels to a QUALITY chromer and have them done.

^^^Looks good. Might want to find who ever is going to chrome the wheels and ask if it would be better to chrome a polished surface or painted surface before you order.

Thanks for all the help...i contacted the dealer to see what they can do. I really like the chrome wheels, mainly b/c that is what I had on my black 98 SS.

If they chrome them, most likely they will prepare the surface for it. They probably will not chrome over the top of the existing surface. Just my thought.

This is true. and get them done RIGHT, otherwise you will regrete it, when the finish starts to pit down the road.

If you plan on the chrome, just get the painted wheels and save the cost diff and put it towards the plating. If they are painted, the first step they will do is to glass bead the paint off, quick polish of the surface acid wash then plate. Most of the cost will be labor for prep work ..... If you shop around the price shouldn't be much more than the polished option ....

Just get the 20" painted and look in the Yellow Pages .... Bet there a few places around you that does plating ...

This was the exact same thing i was thinking of doing, cancel the polished and get the stock ones chromed. Has anyone tried the California Chrome shop? How was their chrome, and did it hold up and last?
