First Post/Stabilitrak

Hello everyone! This is my first post on the forum. I bought a 2011 LS2 V6 Inferno Orange model last week! I look forward to talking Camaros with everyone.

So, I want to ask a question about Stabilitrak.
Yesterday, I was sitting at a light in the left turn lane. I turned traction control off. When the left turn arrow changed to green, I floored my Camaro and turned left. I immediately lost traction in both rear wheels. I started sliding to the right until it felt like I hit something. I felt a lot of shuddering and then a loud "boom" or "bang" from the rear end. I was loving the feeling of sliding until I heard that mess from the rear end. I stopped flooring it, pulled over and looked at my rear end. It looks fine. I'm so confused as to what the heck happened. It just didn't seem normal compared to previous cars that I've done that with.

My question is...Could that just have been the Stabilitrak kicking in?
I don't want to hurt my baby. I hope someone else has experienced this. haha

Yes that was your Stabiltrak kicking in. In severe slides it can apply the brakes (or just one side).

It doesn't allow you to become an instant Drift King!

Ventmaster, Thanks for the quick response! PHEW! I was nervous/dumbfounded about what the answer would be. I'm glad it's nothing serious or bad. If I try that again one day, I'll make sure it's all off.

First off, Welcome to C5!

and

If your going to "try" it again one day, please do it at a track instead of on the street. I would hate to see your next thread be titled "I wrecked my Camaro" or something similar..

Yes, of course. I just couldn't resist the temptation...Now I know what it's capable of. Good thing we have a track that I can use nearby.
