The $799 if an Axle Back and the $1500 is a Cat-Back.
The difference is not just the "X-Pipe".. the Cat-Back replaces the entire Exhaust system whereas the Axle Back just replaces the mufflers. Basically, those who just want to change their sound with very minor mpg, hp, tq improvements would get the axle back kit. And those who want to get as much performance from their vehicle would get the Cat-Back for a much higher exhaust flow, at a much higher cost. |

I bought the entire catback system for 1.5k, I can't say it's all that amazing until i put it on the dyno, but i'm not doing that until I add everything i want, I have an airaid CAI on the way, going to be ordering the header/high-flow cat from stainless works (unless i can find someplace better soon), ordered the Jet Pro-flow Mass Air Sensor, then after all that a tune. Then I'll be posting numbers, but as far as the entire cat-back borla system i'm not too impressed by the sound, i'm hoping the headers and high flow cats will help but we'll see, I don't think it was installed as good as it should have been thou there is really not much to it, but i'm having a place my good friend recommended take a look at it and see what he thinks, it doesn't idle loudly but when u push it it sounds good.

There really isn't much of a HP gain from any exhaust period. 6 HP max. Every exhaust system on the market right now is pretty much just for sound until they crack the ECM. Same with the CAI and everything else.
I'm not a car expert but I've been doing a ton of research on this stuff and from what I understand until they find a way to take out timing all of the gains will be marginal at best. With all of those upgrades AND a tune it will be a pretty substantial update but until they can tune it its all just for sound and maybe 6-10 HP. Also, specifically as pertains to the cat back vs axle back, on this car it isn't a huge deal. The stock pipes, cat and pretty much everything except the mufflers is pretty good as is. |
