Fantasy Football Questions/Advice
I didn't see a thread on it so I made one. I joined a keeper league recently and took over a team. Each team gets 2 keepers and if you choose to keep a player, you forfeit the draft pick that that player was taken with. The team I got is terrible. Here's the roster. The "-" means undrafted. Who do you guys think I should keep? I was thinking Gronk for sure but not sure about the 2nd. Thanks for the help.
Matt Ryan (Atl - QB) Round 2, Pick 8 Brandon Marshall (Chi - WR) Round 2, Pick 6 Hakeem Nicks (Ind - WR) Round 5, Pick 7 Julian Edelman (NE - WR) - Frank Gore (SF - RB) Round 3, Pick 7 Reggie Bush (Det - RB) Round 4, Pick 6 Rob Gronkowski (NE - TE) O Round 6, Pick 6 Stevie Johnson (SF - WR) Round 7, Pick 7 Aaron Rodgers (GB - QB) Round 1, Pick 7 DeAndre Hopkins (Hou - WR) Round 11, Pick 7 Willis McGahee (Cle - RB) - Rashard Mendenhall (Ari - RB) Round 8, Pick 6 |

I would probably keep marshall. Draft a RB in round 1, and then QB in round 3.

With Eddie Lacy to keep balance, it's awful hard to let Aaron Rodgers go, going to be HUGE this year IMO.

Yeah, tough choice. But it is what I would do. I can understand keeping Rodgers, and maybe picking up Marshall in the second. Or best avail player

You gotta keep in mind that you lose the draft pick it's associated with, so your best bet is keeping whoever was of value where they were taken compared to where they WILL be taken.
Gronk is the obvious answer. There's no way he would still be available in the sixth round and he has the potential to be the best RECEIVER overall, not just right end. I would definitely give up a sixth round pick for someone who is going in the second. The other one I'd keep is Edelman. You wouldn't give up ANY picks for him and he is a solid WR2. Rogers is great, but there are 4-5 QBs that are in that too tier - you should be able to grab one of those in rounds 2 or 3. Given this strategy, you end up with (one of) the best fantasy TE and a WR2 while still maintaining all of your picks in the first 5 rounds. Some might cringe that they are on the same team, but as high scoring as the Pats are I don't think that matters in this scenario. |

You need to give more info on the league. What type of scoring is it? Who gives you more points, QB, RB, or WR? I agree with Gronk and would maybe go with Rodgers, he's a top 5 QB.

Need more scoring info but I'd keep Gronk for sure. Thing about the QB is you have really one tier....then everybody else.
If it were me if you are not going to keep Rodgers, I'd keep Marshall RB with the 1st round pick, and best available RB or WR with the 3rd round pick.

I would keep Gronk & Rodgers. You have to figure any of the top 5-7 feature RB's aren't going to be available because other teams will use them as their keeper. So that leave's RB's that are going to split time with another RB that aren't worthy of a 1st round pick. There are a lot more good WR's that can be drafted in the later rounds.
Rodgers is good for about 4500 yards & 40 TD's, you're just not going to get that kind of point production out of a RB or WR.

What draft pick do you have? That's another factor. If you are near the end, and all the other tier 1 QB's are gone, I'd keep Rodgers. If you are near the top, keep Marshall and draft bpa in round 1

The scoring matters; with passing TD's being 6 points that's a pro QB league. Also pending other teams keepers a valued RB you think you may get in the first round may not be there. It'd really depend on who's getting released back into the pool of players. But I'd go with Rodgers & Gronk.

Thanks guys. The draft picks and keepers haven't been released yet. Still waiting for that.

So they decided that you get 2 keepers and you don't lose any draft picks. Should I keep Rodgers then? Or keep Marshall and wait on a QB?

I would. But I'd make sure that you get a top tier TE if you are going to let Gronk go. The difference between Graham, Gronk, and maybe Julius Thomas and everyone else is huge....
