So...stop into my dealer today to meet the sales manager who took over my account when my salesman left (went back to school to get a degree...good for him). Wanted to make sure this guy had his sh!t together since my car is on a train headed this way...

Anyhow...as I'm talking to the guy he says "hey, we got an IOM in over here, just installed the tint and splash guards today, waiting on the 21s to come in before the buyer picks it up...wanna see." Of course my answer it yes.

So as we're walking over to check it out, we start talking about mine being en route and he says "wow, you must be another one of those camaro5 forum guys, you guys know your shit"

thought that was kind of funny and a nice shout out to the members here.

he did make a comment that he thought it was awesome how passionate all the camaro buyers so far have been about their cars. He said all but one or two of their buyers have been familiar with this forum, and either called all the time to check about order status, or were tracking it themselves online. When I mentioned that i knew which CSX train my car was on, he just laughed. Said he'd call me when mine got in...then commented that I'd probably know before he did.

sounds like a good dealer!! great story!! I made my dealership pretty famous a couple months ago with the first camaro on the dealership floor..so we always talk about the site when I go in

I have always found that you don't have to be to smart to know more about a car than most dealers do. Any of you who are a true enthusiast generally can make your average car salesman look like a moron!

very true...but...can you really fault them. i mean they have to know a fair amount about quite a lot of cars (not just their own manufacturer, but if they deal with used cars at all, etc). kind of a jack of all trades type thing.

as long as they don't try to play it up like they know more than they do once they realize we know our facts then
