BC Coilover suspension just installed- making lots of noise
I just installed a BC coil over suspension kit on my 2011 Camaro. On my ride back I heard just a bit of squeaking and rubbing noises coming from the rear. It was worse when I had a car full of people but got better at higher speeds. It seems that the slower the speed the more frequent the noise was, at times nearly constant, but it didn't sound like the wheel rubbing, more like the travel of the suspension. I did have the holes drilled in the trunk for the extenders, could the hole be too small? Other than the strange noises I was very impressed with the changes in handling. I have to get an alignment so I'll be heading back tomorrow, but in the meantime if anyone has experienced this, what should I look for when trouble shooing? Please don't let me down Camaro 5ers!

V6 rear brakes....
V8 front end.... I'm confused... Congrats on the upgraded suspension. Sounds like they need to grease the fittings or time the bushings.

1) What is your preload set at? Too little and they can unseat.
2) Are the springs seated fully/properly? 3) Tighten your sway bar end links. 4) Did they come with the rubber sleeve for the upper spring coils? Pic is too small to see |

It's a confusing car. When I bought it it had the V8 front on it. Thanks for the advice. I'll try it out!

Don't worry about it. I live in China so I have some Chinese made rotors. Getting imported pieces was way out if my price range. For a set of R1 drilled an slotted it would cost $1200 and take 40 days to get here. A full brembo package would only be a bit more than that here. Anyway, thanks I'll check the torque specs later today.

So I took my car in and we found the coilover adjuster adapter in the trunk was rubbing in the hole that was cut. They disconnected them and we just bought a long hex wrench to use to adjust the rear suspension. I'm a happy camper now! I'll write a bit more on my journal if anyone is interested in another long winded post! Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions!

You should also check preload on all of them. They're typically just loosely assembled in the box and not equal. It will help avoid a bouncy or clunking ride. |
