Need help lowering 1/8 mile ET
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if this is just how fast the car is supposed to run... but I feel like a fully stock 2014 ZL1 A6 should be running in the 7's for the 1/8 mile. My fastest time so far in the 1/8 mile is 8.42 though.. DA that night was 1200. I run traction control off and in race mode (5).
At times it feels like it tends to bog off the line. I'm running a 2.0-2.1 60 ft consistently.

Yea, I was on street tires. I was thinking it would be able to hit 7.9 on a perfect run, but maybe it just won't run that fast stock. Maybe with DR can run 7.9 stock?

DRs will help. That is a pretty high 60 foot for your power range. I'd get a set of 18 inch wheels and some good Mickey Thompson DRs. You'll cut some low 1.8s and high 1.7s. Car should stay straight and bring your 7.

Its still possible to put down a 1.9 on the regular with the A6. DR should get you down to 1.7's in that car. Then you should be seeing your high 7's

Yes, you should be in the 7s stock. I don't have an auto, but more than 1/2 of the time slips I have in front of me were 7.9s or better. All I have is a RF CAI, but with an m6 that's much harder to launch. Can you post up you slips so we can see your exact 60' and mph? what are you trapping? It should be between 90-93 in that DA.
Here are the common issues: 1. You are in "D" and starting in 2ND, not starting in 1st gear 2.Your car is heat soaked. These cars pull a lot of timing when hot. I will lose up to 3/10th in the 1/4 with a hot car. There is a red auto CTS-V Coupe at our track that cuts 1.8s on stock rubber so your car should be capable of that. I'm an m6 guy, but maybe an auto zl1 guy can chime in with some numbers for comparison. Hope this helps. Last edited by crazydave; 09-10-2014 at 09:26 PM. |
