I've seen both of these someone on the site. I think some have said use fishing line or dental floss, heat the emblem up a bit (hair dryer), then pull it off. Goo Gone works great to get the residue off. Bowtie on front is a clipin and the rear is glued on, so same procedure as the GM emblem. I suggest searching to be sure

We removed the gold bowties and replaced them with chrome. We drilled a hole on each side of the bowtie (just threw the bowtie itself) then used a hair dryer to heat up holes. Used a small screwdriver in each hole to slowly pull the bowtie off. No problems. New bowties look great! ( That gold had to go!)

anybody have a real solution?
not drilling through the bowtie or using fishing string. the rear bowtie is attached through holes in the trunk... screws or clips...I have seen the holes. fishing line will not make screws or clips come loose

I removed my emblem because I applied a flat black decal between the tail lights. I re-used my emblem after covering the gold w/ flat black vinyl. BTW, it turn out great and cost about $15.00
.The trunk bowtie is very difficult since the entire surface of the emblem is covered w/ the sticky adhesive . I used a small utility knife ( w/ the breakaway blade) and cut the adhesive between the emblem and the paint. Next I began wedging the emblem using a plastic blade (ones used for window tint/ or body work). Using the wedge, I was able to cut more of the adhesive further behind the emblem while slowly lifting it off. I did scrap the paint in a few spots, but only behind where the emblem goes anyways. There are 2 holes in the trunk lid, so you cant just delete the bowtie.I cleaned the residue of w/ goo gone without any effect to the paint finish. I did clean it w/ soap as soon as I was done. Emblem removal took about 15-20 minutes w/ me being very careful and another 15 cleaning the adhesive off. Good luck, my .02

You can do that, but you won't be able to put it back on... there is adhesive on the back. The holes are there just to make sure it's lined up when you "stick" it on. You can order a new bowtie for like $15 I think. Then just paint that one and replace. My friend did that on his, and I'm getting it done to mine also.
