good catch can for a cheapskate
Is there a GOOD catch can for under $100.00 for us cheapskates ? Nothing fancy ,just a good quality catch can set up for a LS3 for the dirty side to work in conjunction with the 1LE clean side unit . Cosmetic blem ,seconds what ever as long as it works well and is inexpensive . Experts on the subject ,tell me about it . I read the Apex post about catch cans and got bleery eyed . I see the benefit for one ,and will get one ,but need it to be inexpensive. Thanks

Don't go cheap on a catch can even if you have to wait to buy it. Trust me you'll appreciate it in the long run.

Check out the universal one I got. ADD W1. VERY happy with it. (Not currently on Amazon, but this is exactly the can I got) I don't run the external vent/filter, I've got the included plug in it.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ADD-W1-Black...e237ec&vxp=mtr I ordered 6 different cans all under $100 on Amazon, and returned the other 5. This is the one I stuck with--none of the other cans were worth pissing into. |

Go to the hardware store and build one from PVC . Paint it the color of your choice and patent it.

i second the "dont go cheap? i did, i bought one, and me and mechanic friend couldnt even get it hooked up, the lines were short, not the size that the car had, and crummy mounting bracket. its sucked. just returned it, and going to order the Elite can which is what i should have done to begin with. also, the cheap cans may not have the baffles, etc. to suck up vapors well. i bought my can in January, and just was getting around to install with my rotofab. got the rotofab installed, but after hours and half, we gave up on the CC. so, spend the $159 and get one that everyone on here endorses.

Looking for one also...
Stupid question, but they are easy to install right? Don't they just go between the PCV valve and the intake? I really don't know, so I wanted to ask. Never had one before, but seriously looking into it. |

There may be things to cheap out on, but things that protect your 40K+ investment dont fall in to that category. Your car should last you decades if you so choose, dont cheap out on it man!

You can save some by shopping around. I purchased one off of Ebay from a guy who had bought it new (APEX) and never installed it. I got a really good deal on the price. It came with the hoses and all the mounting hardware and fittings. After installing, I decided I wanted the steel braided lines instead, so I ordered those directly from Apex and they shipped them out real fast and it looks gorgeous under the hood now.
Watch Ebay or other places for someone selling one. Maybe someone who un-mods their car before they sell it. While I think it's great to seek a deal, don't get a "cheap one," get a GOOD ONE that is at a great price instead.

Ok ,I'm going to get one ,and it will be from a site sponsor .Now I need to know which one to buy Elite, Apex, or the new PCM . What makes one better than the other ? Let's forget about the price for now ,who is best ,and why ?

Heard good things on the APEX one. Leaning that way when I have the funds. Trying to stay off of the couch though, as the wife does not like a lot of car mods... LOL |

I have narrowed it down to Elite or Apex . I am trying to find out if one is better then the other B4 pulling the trigger . So far the Elite is cheaper ,but is it as good or better then the Apex ? Ether no one knows or won't say . My guess is they will be about the same.

My .02. I have the Apex catch can and would recommend it to anyone looking for one. Also, my experience dealing with Apex so far has been good, so that is another reason I would recommend them. I don't really know anything about Elite.

Buy the Elite from JDP. Elite makes a good catch can and Tyler is a good guy.
