Pionner just released the updated 1.6 Firmware for Pioneer NEX receivers to include Apple Carplay. Pioneer also announced AppRadio 4.

No, everythin works as it should. Make sure to purchase the "CAMOSM" OnStar module for use with the Scosche dash kit to avoid problems with factory functions. *NOTE* Scosche dash kit does NOT work with factory installed Mylink NAVIGATION equppied vehicles. Standard MyLink vehicles are compatible.

No it does not.

Once you have replaced My Link factory radio, any aftermarket unit will not send any info to the HUD including song titles and navigation info....

Yes, everything within CarPlay is pulled from your phone when connected via lightning cable.
