Quick question about turbo set up

So my question is about my headers. I have been thinking about going with a twin turbo setup but I was wondering if I would have to get rid of my long tubes?

Yep, easy money back in your pocket to pay for something else.

May I ask why? I am new to turbo set ups. I know a little bit about superchargers.

They attach to factory manifolds, or shorty headers with adapters on most kits. Stock manifolds have made 1600+rwhp on turbo setups. No need to spend money. The turbos do the work.

The AGP kit mounts at the end of the exhaust manifold, all nice and neatly tucked mid-mount. Plenty efficient with exhaust heat and minimal lag. There are some rear mount turbos that allow you to keep your LTs but as mentioned above, they'll be less efficient and you'll get lag. Better off as Unreal mentioned. And turbos don't "need'" headers like superchargers do to make the HP. Proof is in the dynos.

Thank you all.
If this is the route that I end up going then I would most likely get some custom shorties after the info given on here. Thanks for the offer Prime.

No need. Stock manifolds will make more power than you could ever want. Only reason for shorties is to fit 6 bolt heads. Stock manifolds will easily max out the motor/drive train. Once you are in the 1100+ range you can look at some shorties.

Looks like other people already jumped in. Depends on the headers you have, if they replace the factory manifolds you can buy the turbo adapters that allow you to bolt a turbo to them, or you could go the STS route and get a pump for the oil feed/drain. But for a conventional set up new manifolds would be needed.

I would try to always use stock manifolds if you can. Even if you have 6bolt heads, they can be modified. They are heavy duty, durrable and control heat so well. Spark plug access and not burning plug wires with the stock manifolds is solid gold. At high HP I'm sure some shorties would make more power, but they are a pain.

You have any pictures of stock manifolds on a 6bolt?

Pretty sure IPS had ARH make them shorty headers that fit factory location AND 6 bolt heads.

But if factory work. Do that. Lol.

Also in for pictures.

Cordes Perf modified stockers maybe a year ago for Blakes car. They cut out clearance for the bolts and welded up the holes. Try searching on here. It made great power at reasonable boost levels for a 376. 1010whp at ~21psi on a Dynojet
