Bad week

So, with the cold blast coming in, my plan was to get my car prepped for storage this winter. I've got the fuel stabilizer, the CTEK and all the detailing supplies.

First, I scheduled an appointment to get the free service done with oil change on Monday (last day before the cold). While it was there, I also wanted them to replace the broken off wiper arm cap and fix a clip on the side skirt that was broke or loose.

Here's a shot of that:

Since they didn't have the clip in stock, they had to order it and I had to come back in yesterday after the cold hit. I was off work and just wanted to get it stored, so I agreed.

They got that fixed and when I got home and started cleaning it, I noticed this:

And this:

So, I have to schedule it for two days later (today) for them to call in a specialist to repair it. So, it's now in the shop getting those repaired. Luckily, the dealer admitted fault and is willing to do whatever it takes to get them fixed for me.

I told them point blank that they needed to be aware of two things; 1. If they could see the repair, I would be able to see the repair and that wouldn't be acceptable. 2. With it being 13 degrees out this morning, I told them I didn't want my car sitting out in the cold because of the tires cracking and I would be looking for that. They assured me it would not.

The service director told me if he could see the repairs, he wouldn't accept it either. So, when the wheel repair guys said that since they're black wheels they couldn't guarantee it would match exactly, he said "well let's see what they can do with them and go from there".

So hopefully, if the match isn't perfect, they'll order me a new pair of front wheels.

In the meantime, I had my bow tie overlays come in and put those on...

I feel you pain bro. Had a dealer do that to me when I had my new v6. Now I am not sure how good their repair guy is but I would not accept repair unless is guaranteed because when they repaired mine, lasted a few weeks and the paint started coming off and looked terrible. They repaired it again and lasted a few months and the paint started to bubbled up and come off in pieces. At that point I was fed up and just left it like that. From that day I said I would not accept a repaired wheel if that ever happens to me because of the hassle. Anyways good luck bud!

Hi there,
We’re very sorry to hear of your recent service experience, but we are glad that the dealer was able to get you scheduled for a second visit in a timely manner. Please feel free to message our team on here to let us know how everything turns out, or if we can look into it further for you.

I hate that this has happened, but it seems they are trying to make it right, which is about all you can ask. I hope this all works out for you!

To be honest, I've always had really good luck with my local dealer, so I didn't bother to be that guy that stresses to the techs to be extremely careful, etc. I didn't even bother looking it over before I drove off because they normally do things great. It wasn't until I got it home that I noticed the issue.

But now I'm going to have to be that guy. Stress to them to be careful and look it over with a fine tooth comb before I drive off.

I will say though, they have been great in working with me to get it fixed. I just hope that if the repair isn't done to my satisfaction, they make it right by replacing the pair.

Another good thing is that they're familiar with the cracking issues on the tires, so they're keeping it stored inside and out of the cold.

I'll report back with the results.

My guess is that they drove it onto a lift or a rack that was too narrow or something. You can see in the first picture, there's actually a slice in the edge guard on the tire. I'm certain that had to come from something metal, definitely not a curb or anything.

So who ever did this at the dealership, was hoping you wouldnt notice. Thats is BS. They should have owned up to it from the start. It puts me on edge anytime I have to take the car back for service. You just dont know what they might do, when no one is looking.

Probably true. When they were fixing the clip, I thought I heard my car start up (you can hear the exhaust pretty much anywhere) after about 30 minutes. Then nothing. About 30 minutes after that the service adviser told me it should be done and he would go check on it. Magically it was done and he pulled it around then.

I'd guess they were in the back discussing it or just afraid to bring it around.

Probably why they didn't even argue when I called them and told them they needed to fix it.

OP, that sucks! I have learned from others that you have to look over your car before and after with an adviser. I've seen quite a few stories like this. Things can happen and they should have been up front with you. Your going to be upset anyway, which is totally understandable. At least they are keeping the car inside during this cold blast. Good luck to you!

I had that happen as well. I always go over my car before I leave anyplace that has laid a hand on it just for this reason.

Luckily I caught it and the dealer did not say anything except we will take care of it.

All is well. They repaired the wheels so well that even with my super bright LED flashlight I couldn't spot the repair or even a change in texture. Now she's sitting cozy in my heated garage.

Sorry you are having this issue. My dealership does a full walk around with you prior to moving the car from the drive up and they notate anything and everything that is wrong.
