Offer from local dealership

Last night I recieved an off from the dealership I bought my 2013 SS from, saying that they would offer me just over $29k for my car. But I still owe about 38k overall before I would trade it in. I need some advise on if I should take this offer and the remaining $9k would just add to the price of the new car. I don't think I should/will take the offer. I would be upgrading from a 2013 1SS to a 2014 2SS. Thanks guys

Adding $9k upside down for basically a new version of the same car? Ouch.

When you add that much to the basic loan, there's usually a premium attached to the new loan balance interest rate on top of that.

I went '13 to '14. But on the cheap model . Basically the 13 traded above payoff and the 14 started a new loan. Whole different scenario.

Did you ask to trade, or did they initiate the offer?

Don't take it.

They use this as a means of making money. They hit you low, sell it high to the next guy, and sell you a new car in the process. It gives them 2 highly profitable deals if you take the offer, and it catches you off guard without you being on the market, which means no price shopping.

I'm with Blur......Don't do it. Your going to bury $9k of negative equity into a newer car that depreciates the same amount when you drive it off the lot? No way.

Why would anyone even consider getting rid of a 2013 for a 2014... financially, this is like taking a wad of your savings and throwing it into a fire place to watch it burning. What is wrong with the 2013 (which is still on warranty)?

keep what you got, consider the next gen when it comes out but start paying this one down. Do some double payments or just some extra cash. Then you can consider trading up.
