Ringing/whistling from the passenger side when AC is on?
Hello. I'm new to the forums and this is my first post. I figured I should make an account to get some other peoples perspective or possible solution on a problem I've been having. Every time I turn on the AC i tend to hear a faint ringing or whistling sound coming from the passenger vent. It sounds like a CD spinning. At first I thought it was the radio but then I debunked that. Definitely coming from the passenger side within the car. The sound starts about 5mins or so after I turn on the car and begin driving. I took it to my dealer today but of course the sound wasn't there of ALL TIMES!!! Couldn't do anything about it until it becomes louder. Sometimes it's pretty loud to where I can hear it over the radio whenever it's at a low volume. Also the sound seems to become more apparent whenever the AC is set to 1 or 2. Whenever I DO turn the AC off the sound goes away. And right when I turn it off it sounds like a CD slowly coming to a stop and quietly the ringing just stops. Now the sound occurs when the car is stationary and also whenever it's in motion. Anyone know what could be the problem? My camaro is a 2012 with only 27k miles on it. Has anyone had a similar issue?

I'm guessing here but maybe there is something stuck in the hvac blower fan. I had a problem with my right side hvac outlet but it was more of a rattle. You can access the area pretty easily by prying off the right end cap on the dash (where the door meets the dash side). The hvac duct is right behind the cover.
Hope you get it fixed. Irritating sounds from a car make me crazy. |
