Battle of the CAIs
Ordering one tomorrow so I figured I'd ask which intake is king and why.
Here are the contenders: Cold air inductions (what I'm leaning towards) Roto-fab Injen K&n BBK If you were in the same position as me it would be helpful to know which one you went with and why. Thanks!

they all do the same damn thing and make the same numbers. Your gonna get a few of those guy that will tell you that one makes 1 or 2 more horsepower (THAT YOU WILL NEVER FEEL) than the other which really doesn't matter. You can't make a bad choice when choosing any that you listed

You forgot one, Vararam.
And the previous post is spot on. they are all good, they will all do well. Just a matter of what you want to see when you open the hood. I went with the INJEN as it was one of the best on the market when I bought mine, and a few of the others were not availalbe yet. Plus I got it shipped to the house for $273. I was able to paint it to match my body color. Below is how my set-up looks and the testing that was done 4 years ago for what was available at the time for the LLT V6. Good luck.

2012 can't have the Injen long tube or the Vararam.
I went with the K&N Typhoon kit (not listed above) because it was half the price of the CAI intake. Slapped the Apex air scoop kit on it and I am quite pleased.

I went went Roto-Fab. Liked the paint match, package deal with Elite Can from JDP and dry filter was the clincher for me.

the CAI I like best. the cover on the air box means no dirty spot on the hood liner. plus if you add lights to the CAI one it looks really cool.

The Z/28 intake may fit as well (a spacer would be needed since the airtube is slightly bigger). I'm going to an event next weekend where it will be tested.
Update: not gonna happen. sigh.

I guess I should edit this slightly. If you can get it bolted on, it will require a tune to run right, and that's if it can be tuned to run right. It's not going to be an out of the box swap. For the amount of money they are charging for it, you are better off going with something aftermarket that works out of the box. Last edited by Jason@JacFab; 12-08-2014 at 12:35 AM. |

Actually the INJEN long tube does fit...all good thou. You are correct about the Vararam thou, I would have thought they made one for the LFX by now. Guess they are not interested?
