L99 auto car manual mode shifting during burnout.

Myself and a friend (both have a 2010 SS automatic car) this past weekend were at the track and tried manually shifting from M1 to M2 during the burnout, but it went straight from M1 to M3. Both the stabilitrac and traction control were turned off by holding down the button for the correct length of time. A little history tells me that with my stock 20's a few weeks prior it did it just fine, but we were both running the same 28" (approx.) tall drag radial on 18" z06 wheels.

Sucks doing a burnout when it goes to third rather than second, which makes it lug down bad making a sucky burnout.

Makes me wonder if the slightly shorter tire height is what causes the problem. Next thing I guess is to get a line lock kit and roast away.

How do we get it to go to from M1 to M2 and not straight to M3? Any tips on this would be appreciated.

I'm curious to know, are your cars running the stock tune?

Hmm never had that problem, been tuned for a few years.

I always do my burnout with the paddles.

I was curious to if they were tuned because I always use my tapshift, I can burn right through first and into second, recently, along with a new tune I have the same issue, it seems as if I shift right at redline it hits third not second. I was thinking it was something in the tune preventing it from bouncing of the limiter. Ryan did the most recent tune so I suppose I could just ask him.

I have never tried it but what happens if you start the burnout in 2nd gear? Good?, bad? Possible?

No problem doing second gear burnouts as long as you have the power to spin 'em,

Yeah totally like CFD said.

Just that if you do a burnout with the car in regular mode mine would skip the gears quicker than kid eating skittles.

325/40/18 M&H. I think it's 28" tall. Not completely sure.

Both cars were tuned, but even after tuning I've run my car with stock wheels and tires and was able to go from M1 to M2 in the burnout.

what is happening is the car is changing gears it's self. And when you tap the up shift it is shifting again to third. Try not changing gears or changing Sooner.

I was actually having the same issue at the beginning of last season. Thought it was something that I was doing. I have been tuned as well. I just put the car into manual mode and used the paddles to force it into first gear. Start the burnout in first gear and just hold the revs around 6K rpm's for a few seconds. Seems to work just fine.
