P0301 issue

Started my car and it immediately started to shake and shut off. Tried to start it again and I had to push the gas pedal while it was turning over to get it to start. The idle was really rough and the car would shut off if i let off the gas. Not sure what happened, the car was parked and had no signs of anything failing. I checked spark plugs/wires and checked for a vacuum leak but no signs of anything wrong. Also noticed a bad knock in the engine and all the dash lights were blinking with a Service stabilitrak message displayed. I scanned it and im getting a P0301 error code (cyl 1 misfire). Do you guys have an idea of what it could be? if i cant figure it out i'll take it to the dealer on Monday.

LS3goyo,

My apologies regarding your engine code concerns. Although I understand your displeasure, it's great that you'll be proactively reaching out to your dealer for an official diagnosis. Keep us in the loop and updated on your service visit. If necessary, I can contact the dealer's Customer Experience Managers if you have additional questions. We'll look forward to your updates .

Kindly,

William R.

How long has it been sitting since you last started it with no problems

It was sitting for about 10 hours. I drove to a hospital and when I left it started acting up

If you checked the wires and spark plug, most likely culprit would be a bad coil or a clogged fuel filter, improper fuel pressure from fuel pump. It will definitely need a dealer to properly diagnose.

if its only misfiring on cylinder 1 its probably something specific to it. Not likely to be a fuel pump or filter since that would affect all cylinders.
Probably coil, maybe a wire, injector, or plug. Compression is possible but unlikely

Yep, I would guess. Bad coil first, hope he comes back and tells us what it is, lol
Some have had some coil problems, but have not heard too much about injectors going bad this early

Took it to the dealership and they said I needed a new engine. The service writer believes it was a cam issue and it blew my motor... I'll have more details in the upcoming days

Update as of this morning:
The motor isn't destroyed like they thought at first. It ended up being a stuck valve

If they are changing the one valve that stuck, do yourself a favor and have a conversation with the mechanic and see what it will cost to have him replace ALL of the lifters to the new design and tell them to double check all the valve timing and adjustments when they replace the lifters. It will come back working better then new. May cost you a few bucks but if your going to keep the car it will be worth it Just a thought. Or you can think about a Cam ! And upgrade the beast as well.

WTF. Why are so many of us getting this issue all of a sudden. My car has this same issue. Sounds like a spun rod bearing sound right?

from what the mechanic said this is pretty common. He thinks its most likely from a bad down shift. He also said they see a lot of corvettes in for the same reason. most likely a 6-3 downshift
