'13 SS L99 vs '06 6.0 GTO
Friend of mine just picked up a 6.0 GTO auto. He wants to run me before he trades it for a truck. Who do you think will run from a dig 1/4 and 40,60,70 roll?

I'm giving it to the GTO, but should be a good race. Whoever gets the jump will probably win if both are stock.

Theres no way that GTO should win. It weighed the same with less power. Both cars auto.....You should walk away from that GTO no problem

The GTO should lose every time, unless you launch poorly. The best times on the GTO were around mid 13's....so it should lose, but not a huge blow out.

Quote:
The GTO's were weighing in around 3700lbs, so just about 100lbs lighter than the Camaro... The GTO also produced 400hp and 400lbs of torque....so again... pretty much the same stats. The difference however is that very crappy transmission in the GTO...

You should beat the GTO. But the real question here is, why did your friend just pick up a GTO when he is now talking of trading it for a truck? Why not just buy the truck in the first place?

He gets good deals on cars the resales them for a lot more than he paid. He does a few thing to it like, paint, rims, etc, makes it look like it's worth a lot for cheap and he makes money like that.

I had an 05 GTO auto. I took it to the track one time when it had 400 miles on it. I only made 2 passes. Both were 13.40's @ 105.XX. Based on that i think it may have had a little more in in with better 60 ft and cool down. Not sure how that compares to a stock l99.

If you were to compare fast list it will tell you that the two cars are seriously super close. The top 20 fastest stock LS2 GTO's range from 13.0-12.6 with the fastest A4 GTO at 12.8 (nearly the same as L99) I think if you put DR's on both cars the GTO would be nearly identical to the L99. It suffers from a seriously small tire and poor suspension from the factory meaning stock for stock it takes a better driver out of the GTO and/or a stickier track than it does out of the L99. Put the 6L80E trans into the GTO and it would smoke L99's. In other words the only thing that keep it close is traction, gearing and shift recovery. GTO's have a piss poor exterior design for the name it carries but they can run pretty well.
