Exhaust Flow: Stock Mufflers vs After Market
So I was Googling around looking at pictures of the stock mufflers we have on our cars. It's wild how extreme the bends/angles appear to be in the tubes inside the stock muffler case.
As a result of what I saw, I'm thinking that any "straight through" design muffler would be an improvement to exhaust flow based on the angles mentioned above. It seems too simple...am I missing something?? |

Nope not at all. For the manufacturer everything is a compromise . You want to keep all of the customers happy if you can but you also need to meet EPA standards . Also they have to meet certain DB standards . Not everyone wants a loud car.
This is why they sell the HP exhaust packages as options . The previous owner of my car was nice enough to install the Chevy Axle back set up on my car and got rid of the 2 small garbage cans . I love the sound of this car . It sounds like it's got a V8 in it instead of a V6. |
