New Exhaust affecting StabiliTrak - needs tune - reccomendations?

Long story short - got new headers and exhaust with no cats and need a tune. Any reccomendations for a handheld tuner to do this? Or will a handheld be enough to correct the current situation of the fuel system going crazy?

I have a 2015 2SS 1LE, and I just installed the Texas Speed and Performance exhaust kit. Long tube headers, no cats, x pipe and back to my NPP dual make mufflers. I got this kit here : http://www.texas-speed.com/p-3411-te...-camaro-s.aspx

The clamp on kit had so many exhaust leaks and no spots for rear o2 sensors. So I got the clamps welded and o2 bungs added to put in the rear sensors. While driving with abunch of leaks and no rear o2s. It was fine. Now that I got the leaks taken care of and rear o2s in, it's running incredibly rich and backfiring. It's even affected the StabiliTrak. I called onstar to do an onboard diagnosis. They told me the stabilitrak is affected becuase my fuel system is going crazy and it's reading that.

So what I'm after is - will a hand held tuner be enough to straighten this out? I've driven the car 140 miles since I got the leaks fixed and rear o2s in.

I was curious if this app based tuner would work -

A handheld will either come with canned tunes (basic to the car) or without any tunes, which will require you to have a custom tune added to upload to your ECM. I would ask one of the tuners who frequent this site to write an email tune for you based on your mods, and buy a corresponding handheld to install it. You'll need the handheld to copy your factory tune, and to install the new custom tune.

Okay. Sounds good. So I'd need to get a hold of someone or some site that would have a custom tune for it and upload it.

But with a handheld, can't I just modify what I need based off the factory tune? Ie) adjust air to fuel or something along those lines.

You can, if you have the software to modify the factory tune with. For example, the HP Tuners suite, which allows you to modify or write your own tunes, and includes a hand held to upload/download the tunes to/from your car. I don't think you can just open the factory tune with a file editor and make changes. You need software to allow you to open and modify the factory file.

Problem solved!!

Spark plug wire on cylinder 3 was resting on the new headers. I saw this and got a plug wire sock, and figured it'd be fine. Eventually it started grounding out to the pipe after burning through then burnt all the way through and was misfiring alot. Replaced the wire with some new custom MSD's I made out of a universal lot and routed cylinder 2 and 5s wires under the pipe and around and they are good to go now. All the other wires didn't touch at all. Everything went back to normal.

Now all I have is a CEL due to there being no cats. But that's fine. Car drives normal. No more backfire. No more smell of gas and no more stabilitrak system going crazy.

Congrats glad you got it figured out.
Be glad to help you with a custom tune to get the most out of your mods and get rid of annoying lights.

Ted.
