Any reason why you want to do a whole new bumper and not just buy the ZL1 rear diffuser.

You have two options for adding the ZL1 rear diffuser to your stock rear bumper.

Option 1-Remove the bumper and buy the ZL1 diffuser template to cut the slots
or
Option 2-add the diffuser with out cutting the slots.

I used option 2 added the rear diffuser w/ out cutting the slots. Mine has been on since 7/13 no issues. I just cur the tabs off and secured the sides of the diffuser with the rear rock guards the back is secured by the tabs in the bumper.

Either method saves you around $700-$800 (ZL1 rear bumper, paint, and bumper absorber) the rear ZL1 diffuser kit will set you back $500.

I bought the ZL1 diffuser, and used the template to cut the notches in my stock bumper. I don't see any reason to buy a ZL1 bumper, unless you got all that extra money.

Should I buy the absorber or no point?

I am going to use the tape method instead of cutting.

Lots of info here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=190372

And here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=267041

Keep in mind, the conversion only applies to 10-13 model rear bumpers.

No point if you are keeping the stock bumper.

I got mine from partstaxi.com. I know they were a vendor at one time, but I have not seen them in a while. At the time it was the cheapest I could find. Their kit was missing the little snaps you use to lock in the tabs you cut holes for. If you go the tape route, you wont need them anyway.

I decided to cut the bumper, and it was really easy, just have to get the gusto to do it which is the hard part. I did not have to take the bumper off to do it. One of my favorite mods!
