Exclamation 2014 LS (Non-BA) - Amp and Subwoofer Install

Hello All,

I've done the amp and sub installs before, but not in a new car.

I'm driving a 2014 Chevy Camaro LS, so there is no boston acoustics or any special audio pre-installed with the car.

I went to BestBuy and they quoted me 300 plus tax to just install my 4 Ch amp for my speakers, and not my second amp + sub. I don't mind spending the money if I have to, but I rather install the equipment myself and make it look nice, and secure all the wires etc etc.

I checked Crutchfield, and the only thing they have listed is the headunit mounting kit, and nothing else.

So with that being said, can anyone guide me in the right direction for achieving two amps (one for the speakers, and one for the sub) install on a stock head unit? What connectors will I need?

Also does the LS have a factory amp? If so where is it?

Thank you all for the help!

So it appears no one has any thoughts on this :P

I did some research, and evidently you need an audio processor to convert the speaker wires to RCA into the amp, and back out to the speakers.

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_161LC8I....html?tp=61671

With this device you can achieve the install.

Stock Head Unit > Audio Processor > New Amps > Back to Speakers / Wires.

I'll post my results when I install it this weekend.

Any reason you want to retain the factory head unit? I am in the midst of doing mine, but it is an RS with the BA system, kinda made things easy, but I want the stock head unit because of all the integration with the rest of the car. Honestly, I would rather have another Pioneer head unit in it like my other cars have.

cmracing - I want to retain the stock head unit because of all of the integration features. I read thread about the scoshe, and metra dash kit, and really do not want to have a messed up key fob, or steering wheel controls messed up.

sigelitest - what is the fark connector?

Thanks for that, good information on the topic.

I'm going to do a full write up once everything is installed and running. I'll take photos and all that fun, so I can help others out by giving them a full how to with a streamlined process.

You can't use a fark connector. Thats only for cars with the BA system

Yeah, I realized that near the end. I may have to end up cutting the factory harness to achieve the install. I'll have to be extra careful and find out which wire does what from the factory amp.

Where is it usually located the factory amp for the non BA 2014 models?
