Removed tail light rings and added quarter flares to IOM RS
I finally got my car last week and removed the tail light rings and added quarter flares and I like the look as much as I thought I was going to! To me the mudflap flares make it look shorter and chunkier and more muscular and complete the circles the fenders draw around the wheels. Getting rid of the chrome rings on the rear lights make them look so much bigger and deeper and darker and wider and sportier that I'm no longer embarrassed to have people driving behind me looking at my tiny, flat, fussy, glittery little chromed plastic outlined lenses. I think my RS looks sportier and tougher than most other Camaros!

How hard/easy was it to remove the chrome trim rings? I was thinking of doing the same thing on my black SS, then tinting the taillights - more towards the blackout effect.
thanks - oh, looks sharp!

looks great !!! this is a very simple mod , just be very careful . a plastic trim puller works the best. we have a pile of chrome trim rings here we are going to do them in hydro carbon since everyone hates the chrome.

Thanks!!! I was inspired by the Annihilator, 2SSRS, and 14 pilot. It was pretty hard to get the rings out... you have to reach way in there and undo three bolts per taillight and then unclip 6 clips per chrome ring while you work them out the back. I got kinda mad and intentionally broke as many clips off as I could because I knew I didn't want them back in. After I was done I didn't like the gap that was left where the ring was because it showed some attachment holes in direct sunlight so I filled it in with some glossy plastic mouldings that I found at the auto-parts store. It's actually the trim that people put around the edge of their car doors to protect them from paint chips when they whack dings into other people's cars. It worked perfectly and looks practically like a stock trim!

Looks great Camero!
I like the "mud flaps" better than I thought I would...
