Sunroof sliding cover cleaning
I know this is not the place for cleaning and washing discussions, but it is how to's. And I am wondering how to get to the top of the sunroof sunshade to clean it, because mine has a green film over the top of the plastic if you look into the sunroof while it is propped open. So how would I go about getting access to that?

My guess is that you have to drop the headliner to remove the cover.

I've got a sunroof, and I will take a look at my car later after I leave work. I read something online that may be helpful, but want to check it out with my vehicle to see if makes sense before I post it here. Will post again in a few hrs.

Sunroof shade removal
I did some digging around online and found this link which is apparently an online version of some sort of workshop manual for a 2010 V8 6.2L. This link seems to specifically reference the shade for the sunroof:
http://workshop-manuals.com/chevrole...ce_and_repair/ I tried it on my car, and while I didn't have the balls to completely remove the shade, I was able to get the cover out from under the glass so it could be exposed: Start by opening both the shade and the glass about halfway. ![]() I did this from inside the car, but I guess you could do it from outside... grab the front edge of the sunshade in the middle, forward of the molded handle, and pull down slightly. The goal is to deflect the sunshade downward just enough so that the plastic stops (circled in red) will clear the front frame of the sunroof glass. It doesn't take much, maybe 3/8" deflection. As you pull this down, slide the sunshade forward. ![]() Once this is completed, you can open the glass all the way and close the sunshade. This should give you access to the top of the shade for whatever cleaning/detailing you wanna do. ![]() Just remember to "re-dock" the shade with the glass frame before closing the glass, using the same process. Supposedly, you should be able to remove the the sunshade through the top of the sunroof opening, but I wasn't brave enough to try it on my car. Hope this helps!

![]() Well guys, i started to attempt to clean it and i am having 0 luck... The film comes off onto paper towels and turns them green, but then it still doesnt come off of the cover? I even used goof off, and that didnt work. Im hesitant to use too harsh of materials on it, but this stuff doesnt seem to be wanting to come off? I think the plastic cover may be stained?
