Power upgrade questions

Question 1:
I see a lot of power upgrade kits online include the solid isolator.

I have a 2015 ZL1. Did mine get the solid isolator coupling or do I still have a spring?

Given the nasty around this issue, I wonder if this particular point should be added to the handy sticky thread "Some info for ZL1 owners".

Question 2:
I would like to add power to the car, but I don't want the dealer to know about it so not to void my warranty. If I add power and something goes wrong, I want to be able to put everything back the way it was. Uploading a tune is recorded and the dealer will know about it. So what can I do that isn't permanent and doesn't require a tune? Air Intake, headers, full exhaust, etc. What about a 10% overdrive pulley? What else? Please don't say "the dealer wont honor the warranty anyway, just do it" blah blah -- I want to try to keep the warranty so lets just pretend it will get honored.

Question 3:
If I do a overdrive pulley, the boost will be increased. Will that get logged in a way that the dealer will know about it and maybe void my warranty?

Question 4:
Can I install a overdrive pulley myself?

Question 5:
I'm looking at the JRE "No Tune" 75RWHP @ http://www.jreperformanceparts.com/2...n-package.html

Is this safe?
What is "ARP Crank Bolt instead of GM Crank Bolt" ?
I imagine I should get "Proper Size Belt for 10% Crank Pulley"

Thanks for the help and sorry for the newbie questions.

Good Morning and Congrats on the new car.

Your car will have the solid Isolator.

Thank you for your interest in the JRE 75 RWHP no tune package.

This is a DIY project but does require a harmonic balancer puller and installer available on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Gm-Chrysler-Ha...staller+puller

http://www.amazon.com/Cal-Van-Tools-...ncer+installer

It can be reverted back to stock any time.

The ARP bolt is reusable crank balancer bolt, the GM is a 1 time use bolt.

The parts will not leave any traces, and yes the package comes with the correct belt.

Feel free to call with any questions be happy to help.

Thank you

Ted.

1. Ted's no tune kit is about all you can do if you want to avoid tuning. Pretty much everything else will require digging into the computer which is tracked in counts.

2. Make some friends with a good dealer. They will at least attempt to help you, should you tune.

3. Say screw it and go for it.

Our ZL-625 package is meant for those not ready to tune and allows you to upgrade down the road when you're ready, without having to replace the parts you already bought.

Our ZL-625 package basically includes a Roto-Fab intake system, VMAX Throttle body, 160* thermostat and an ATI balancer with 5% OD pulley along with an ARP balancer bolt. This kit does not require any fuel accelerant and can be used with regular pump gas.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call, PM or email me anytime!

Best regards,

Tyler

If you have 93 octane, great, but if not, 91 is just fine. Octane availability is generally related to elevation. Those in higher elevation only have access to 91 octane since the air density is thinner and cylinder fill is not as great as at lower elevation, so the higher octane is not as necessary.

Thank you Ted, that is very helpful!

Will the Chevy Tech's know the difference between the ARP crank balancer bolt and the GM bolt or do they look identical? Just covering my bases

The damper will tell them before they ser the bolt. Just take it to where I mentioned in your other thread. They will install it if you want.

And there are also those who just get the short end of the stick for no apparent reason at all.

Really? They'll install it and not rat me out to GM if something goes wrong?

Okay I'll give that a try.

Starkweather Performance

You gotta check out Josh Starkweather. He is in Turlock. He can answer any questions you have. He was just asked by a player on the San Fransisco 49ers to build a ZL1. He knows everything there is about these cars.. His shop is putting out some bad ass cars.
