2015 IMSA Camaro Corral-Watkins Glen 6/27/15

Please join us for the 5th Annual Camaro Corral IMSA Race Weekend June 25th-28th at Watkins Glen. Looks like this year we will be in a designated general corral for car clubs in turn 10 behind the Jackie Stewart grandstand. The price is $65/ticket and a $50 parking fee for the corral. Our main focus will be the CTSCC Race on Saturday, but tickets and parking are good for the 4 days of the event. I am working to get Chevrolet to subsidize at least part of the parking fee. We’ll see how that goes. I think there’s a good shot. There will also be parade laps. Not sure of day and time yet. That and more details as they become available. I will also try to have some door prizes and goody bag stuff as usual. I will post a schedule of events including team tours as it gets closer. There will be no host hotel this year. Anyone needing a room can look at choices in Watkins Glen, Corning, Elmira, and Ithaca. You might want to move quick as the closer places are likely to be sold out fast if not already. Tentative schedule for Saturday

9:00 Meet at gate 2 and head up to Glen Corral by 9:15 (Behind Jackie Stewart Grandstand in turn 10)
10:00-10:30ish Meet n Greet with Stevenson Motorsports in garage
11:35-12:15 Fan walk/meet with Mantella Autosport
12:25-2:55 Continental Tire 150
3:00ish Mantella brings cars to corral for photo op and tech talk.

Sunday
8:25-8:45 Parade Laps
10:10-4:10 Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen

Great stuff Mark. I'm glad you were able to do this again for the group. Karen and I always enjoy the hospitality of the Upstate C5 folks, and the race.

Like I mentioned before, I was thinking of bringing the fifth and camping at the track this year. I had held off booking earlier as it looked like (for a while anyway) the group was going to skip the corral this year.

I guess I better make the call and get a site.

Purchased my 2 G.A. passes and campsite today. Site #224 Trackside in the Boot. Very few trackside camping spots left. A little "out there" but I always spend a lot of time taking pics in the boot anyway...so it's all good.

What's up bro? Things are pretty dead this year for a number of reasons.

1 Ridiculous pricing by the track and IMSA
2 Indifference from the track towards corrals for unsponsored car clubs
3 Indifference towards Camaros in general from Chevrolet
4 GM Nats and Camaro Nats the same weekend
5 General disinterest from our members

Still working on some stuff. Hope you're still coming. The less attendees the more swag for the rest of us, lol.

After talking with the team we have a few cool options for you! We’re thinking of doing a tech talk with our engineer, Andrew Wojteczko, where you all come out to our paddock and get tips on how to set up the Camaro for The Glen. You can also meet the team and drivers. We’d also like to bring the two Camaro’s out to your corral after the race for pictures. We’ll also have some team hat’s for you all to wear!
