Used Z/28 For Sale Already

Thought this was kind of strange: a used 2014 Z/28 is already for sale. Seems to me if you were going to throw down $70k-$80k on a race car, you'd want to keep it for a while. Then again, I don't blame the previous owner because Colorado winters are evil for rear-wheel drive cars.

I think quite a few people want the latest, newest hotness -- and then find out that this is a very specialized car that's not for everyone...

That's a CTF car. GM sold it off to a dealer for public sale. Used yes, but fully checked and parts replaced (tires/rotors, etc). Sold as a new vehicle.

I am sure that some people bought them with the 20% discount and are reselling to make a little profit.

over priced for a used Z. Since the cars was built for the track it can be assumed part of the 3k miles it has is race course which means allot of abuse compared to daily driver. Also, look around you can find new for 65K why spend that much on a used one?

There are a few used ones on autotrader with 10-15k on the clock and still mid to high 60s

Patience and time with 700 new ones nation wide the 6th gen just over a month away. These are not going to move fast. Now Zl1's on the other hand with their pricing and amenities waiting till the end may leave you coming up short.

That was from a dealership quoting it. If you use autotrader you will get well over 300.

Spring is here, track season has begun, and Randy Pobst's new article proclaiming it perfect as is puts it back in the news. There is going to be a significant movement in inventory in the next few months. There maybe a handful of leftovers at years end to be discounted but you will likely have to travel long distances to get one and buy within days as those last ones will disappear like ice on the pavement on a hot august day.

My dealer said the same thing he did a nationwide search and listed north of 700 stock units. He's predicting big December discounts.

I'm taking these "dealer quotes" with a grain of salt because that number can change from month to month. If I remember correctly Jeb, you stated the same thing a month or so ago, maybe longer. To be sure the number has changed, more or less.

I also did a nationwide search on autotrader and it listed 395 actual cars on the lots with photos, which confirms they are not orders, they are on the lots. Some are still listed at or above MSRP. By the way, when is 395 cars a lot when looking at a nationwide actual dealer inventory? Also we are going into the spring and summer seasons, which could also mean higher performance vehicle sales.

"Dealer Predictions" also mean little to nothing to me, GM is in control of national sales events like the 20% end of the year and they set the rules, not dealers. Dealers had no clue this time last year that GM was going to do the event in December 2014.

GM may do another event like the 20% Year End, but it's simply just too early to tell, and it will include more than just Z/28's.

I did a search on Autotrader for new, any distance and hit 587 cars. I still think the Z/28 will be a sought after car in the future. It is so pure and badass.

Remember that dealers converted Superbirds to Roadrunners to move them when new. You just can't be a short term owner and not get killed but that goes for any car
