Cooking oil smell on my new 1LE???

After a 10 to 15 minute drive, a little spirited of course, I get out of my car and smell what seriously smells like used cooking oil!?!?
My car has 980 miles on it. When it was BRAND new I smelled the brakes because of the stuff they put on the disks. This isn't that smell.
It seems to be coming from the transmission. It doesn't smell like clutch dust.
Thoughts?

980 miles, 2015 model, time to go to the dealer and use that warranty!

I prefer to avoid the dealer. Just looking to see if anyone has experienced the smell. It's not an external leak or the evidence would be on my garage floor. Thought maybe it could be the compound they use for the clutch discs or something being different to the smell I'm used to.

I wouldn't even worry about it yet...just breaking it in. Take it out a few more times and see if it goes away. Make sure your not parking next to a Mickey D's

You are going to have lots of smells for the first 5000 miles. Clutch smells horrible most the time, stuff burning off the exhaust, and even an oil smell from time to time. It all quit for me around 5000 miles.

Good to know. This is my first ever brand new ride so I probably just need to get used to having something new. It's going under the knife for some bolt ons tomorrow!

I've had my 1LE for 13 months ( 2100 miles ) and never had any smells except one time > the gross burning scent from hill start assist engaging.
I do have the TSB muffler clamp rattle somewhere under my seat.
Other than that it has been problem free. AND WORTH EVERY PENNY.

There are coating put on parts to keep them from corroding in shipping or while in storage, for the first few hundred miles or so you will probably smell them as they burn off components as they heat up. It should gradually get less and less as you drive it more. I have noticed that smell on every new car I have ever bought. Nothing to worry about unless it keeps getting worse.

Most of the time it's the forming oil they use on the exhaust components. Once you get it really nice and hot for a while it'll go away.

Perfectly normal. Rock on.

+1 on hill assist and clutch smell... I only have 1500 miles of smiles on mine, and it's getting better, gradually.

Mine has hill assist deleted. I wonder if it is the clutch. I just installed the vitesse throttle controller and I am still getting used to the change in response. I am slipping the clutch a tad more...
