"O" Ring Lubricant

Went to three different parts stores today and none of them carry "O" ring lubricant. I actually never heard of the stuff(neither did two of the shops).

Is there a substitute product I can use? From what I found on the web it looks like "O" ring lubricant is just a silicone based product.

I'm installing a SC and in the instructions it calls for O-ring lube for the installation of the fuel rail and for the injectors.

This stuff works well for o-rings... I don't know if there are specific requirement for injector o-rings though...

Found a link on a Corvette forum and there was a variety of alternatives, some from backshade mechanics to professionals. Here's a partial list:

1) Vaseline
2) Dish Detergent
3) Spit (gonna make those injectors my bitch)
4) KY

The professional recommended the dish detergent as it evaporates over time and really the only thing your doing is trying to get the injectors in, not maintain some sort of O ring preservative.

All your trying to do us lubricate the o ring so it doesn't tear as you install it. You can use a little Mobile 1 oil on it to let it slide in. I've never used anything special to install an o ring.

I would use a silicone grease. If you ever have to take it apart you don't want the o-ring tearing apart as you pull it apart later .

I made the unfortunate mistake of googling this same question and landed on a different forum with the same remarks. smh people

Google Parker O-lube, it's barium based not silicone and very viscous.

This is what I would do. Are they blue o-rings? If so, those are your typical fuel resistant fluorosilicone grade. A little bit of engine oil won't hurt anything.
