Oil leak?

So I've had my car for 2 weeks, and I think there's an oil leak. 500 hundred miles, possible? I haven't had a chance to look underneath yet. Thoughts?

What makes you think there is an oil leak? Dipstick low?

I have a crappy garage floor so I put down plywood and there appears to be a dark spot under the engine. I don't remember it being there before. They weren't new pieces.

Break down the beer case(s) and put the cardboard under the motor.

Report back.

My 2012 L99 2SS was bone dry underneath for the first 18 months or so, but at 10k miles, I saw a oil spot every three to five days of sitting... I whined about it a bit, but next time I went to change the oil, I saw the oil filter had drips on it. After I changed the oil, I made sure the filter was tight. No drips since.

Get under it and find out where its coming from, might be an easy fix!!!

When I bought my Silverado in o2, the oil cooler was leaking. When I took my Camaro apart at 22k, it was leaking too. Both those times I just have the 10mm bolt a little tighten (careful your putting a steel bolt into aluminum).

Recently had to replace the cooler gasket on the Silverado at 155k.

I just had this problem when i first took my car out of the garage after winter. I noticed a small puddle of oil...like i could get under the car to see. So i took my phone..hit record and reached under the car as far as i could. I recorded the area i thought the oil was coming . Once i watch the vid i could see oil was dripping down the side of the filter. When i had my oil changed they confirmed it was leaking...now its bone dry.

I put white paper underneath and stayed clean. Talked with my brother and realized that he parked his old 69' Coronet on these boards. So false alarm. Thanks for the ideas.

Ippon14,

I'm sorry to hear about your potential oil leak. I understand how displeasing this would be and realize you're seeking opinions about it. However, if you'd like to consider getting an official GM diagnosis, please message me privately as I can reach out to the dealer's Customer Experience Managers (CEM) for additional assistance. If you'd like to contact us privately, we'd be happy to discuss this with you further.

Kindly,

William R.
