possible sticking caliper?
So I need new rotors...again. these will be the third set of rotors I will have installed on this car. the wheel shutters under breaking so its a rotor issue. The car doesn't pull to one side which I think would indicate a possible caliper dragging.
the thing im confused about is why this thing keeps eating up rotors. Its got the factory brembos and its daily driven to work, no track days on these rotors at all aside from the occasional drag strip trip. can these be rebuilt or is my only option replacing the caliper in question (I haven't figured out which one is the culprit yet)? |

Lateral runout is another cause of vibration while braking.
Are your rotors etched by any of the pad edges? If so that's the caliper to investigate.

well after reading up on that lateral runout it would seem that over torqueing the lugs could cause that...
I wonder if just picking up a new set of rotors and being more careful with the torque would be the fix. I haven't noticed anything etched by the pads but ill take a better look at lunch. |

It's hard to tell from your pictures, but did you have your wheels power coated? I have a friend who had the wheels on his Z06 power coated. While doing an HPDE, the wheels had heated up enough that the paint on the backside of the wheel where it mounts to the hub had melted enough that it affected the lugnuts. That part of the wheel should never have been painted for that reason. I bring this up because of the mention of not having the proper torque on the lugnuts. Make sure the back of the wheel is also clean so that the lugs can't loosen up.
