Coilovers
I have a 2010 SS and I'm in te market for some coilovers. I for really have more than a grad to spend and I'm still almost stock so I don't need an aggressive setup. Just need new shocks and springs and figure I might as well upgrafe. I've been looking into BC racing or LG motorsports. Any experience with these? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Bc racing are pretty decent. I have them on now. Originally i couldnt get the height in the rear i wanted. I usually carry more weight than most, but recently i asjusted the preload to a little more than the stock 4-5mm reccomendation and im riding with a slight rake angle towards the front.
The adjustments are easy and straight forward. For the price you cant beat it. If youre willing to spend towards the 2 grand mark, which i dont think youll need unless decent track use... the pfadt and ride tech are two i was looking to upgrade towards myself.

I have ridetech coilovers and they are great, but as stated they are a little more pricey.

We have been experimenting with a new setup out of the GM parts bin using Z/28 coils and 1LE struts. The ride is firm and controlled with excellent handling characteristics. The Z/28 springs do not fit the rear struts. The rear coil is 3/4" shorter than the 1LE. We have resolved that and are able to fit them with excellent results.
Bill has had his Z/28 light setup for a few days. Here is what he had to say. "So I just took her to the local xxxxxx that has a nice little paved oval (parking lot) out front and did some hairpin turns. O.....M.....G Holy Shit does it turn. Better now on cold tires than before on hot tires!!!!!" according to Bill. We'll hear more from Bill after his day at Watkins Glen. We will be posting up details on the Z/28 Light Setup along with an evaluation from Bill... soon ;-) |

If you're going to go with coilovers, I suggest saving up a bit more and going for the RideTechs. They are an excellent performer and they'll be the last setup you'll ever have to bolt on the car with their 1,000,001 mile warranty. RideTech also has EXCELLENT customer service in the event anything goes wrong.
Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions. Best regards, Tyler 888-308-6007 |
