Questions about 1SS vs 2SS functionality

Hello! I am lurking until I can afford a Camaro 1LE, and that looks to be closer to the fall.

I have read the options that are included with 2SS over 1SS many times. What makes me want a 2SS most is Bluetooth and HUD. The rest of the options are nice, but I don't think I will miss them.

First, I have a Google Music subscription, which is similar to Spotify. I want to know if the BT option will stream music with decent quality, and show album + titles. My current Pioneer head unit does this and I forgot to test that functionality at dealer, during my test drive.

Next, are the NAV options only available thru OnStar subscription?

I thought it would be awesome to have a HUD, especially when it can display navigation. However in my experience, car navigation is worlds behinds Google Maps or Waze. Any comments on this? Things change quickly, so perhaps the navigation is very useful. It is certainly annoying to take long trips ( > 2 hours ) using phone navi.

Thanks guys/gals!

If I recall, The BT option was part of the Connectivity package also available in the 1SS...

I'm a tech guy. I love tech stuff. Tech is my job, etc.

My goal was to keep the tech to a minimum when buying my Camaro.

I don't need the extra gauges. I don't need HUD. I don't need leather.

I saved myself 4 grand doing so.

I have a 1LT (comparable to the 1SS) and my bluetooth connection through Google Play music works flawlessly. All I need to do is change it to bluetooth and my Google play music starts automatically.

And god no - never take nav. Its outdated the moment you buy it - just use Google Maps.

The navigation is alright. Used it on a 12 hour round trip a couple weeks ago, and it worked just fine. The issue is, at least with the non-MyLink cars, there is no way to view the path its trying to take you, so you're completely trusting the car will get you to the right place, whereas Google Maps will allow you to pick and choose. That said, I still haven't been able to find out how to have Google Navigation commands go over the Bluetooth speakers while listening to the radio (I think it'll do it while you're listening to streaming music through your phone).

Unfortunately this is not possible - you will need to be connected to the bluetooth source in order to hear your phone give the directions.

My solution: turn bluetooth off on your phone. Just let the phone belt out words through the speakers of the phone (just turn your volume up on your phone) while listening to the radio.

The heated leather seats, to me, were important. Might as well have a ride in style. The extra gauges, I'm a tech gear head and so the more gauges, the better. HUD is cool, I wasn't sure but have gotten used to and am enjoying it. Things like navigation doesn't matter to me, since I grew up in the days of using maps and I always map out where I'm going in advance (and most people end up getting lost when GPSing anyways, from what I am told). Stereo sound, an MP3 player covers every CD album that I have... so is sufficient.

Really, the leather seats and gauges were my main attraction.

Yeah... I've also been keeping my eye on Android Auto. If that starts to really come around and round into form, I'll probably look to see if I can replace the stock radio with it.

I figure, if I can get Android Auto in this car, its already as up to date as I could hope a car to be. Really, that kind of thing is the endgame when it comes to cramming technology into a car. Allow your mobile device to seamlessly speak to your car, and that's it, ballgame. Now if only it would be able to interact with the HUD and DIC and I don't think I would ever get rid of this car.

I've never had heated seats and I can't auto start the Manual, so I don't know if i care.

I MUST have Recaros with the car, so I'm not sure I'll miss leather rear seats. The gauges and heated sideviews are nice.

Thanks for letting me know google music works well!!!

The best thing about my 2SS is the Recaro seats. If I had to replace my car, I would not accept a Camaro that didn't have them. Second on the list is the HUD. I didn't even want it when I bought the car, but now I can't live without it. It's a really nice feature.
