cheaping out to increase profit margins while keeping prices low would be the cause

defective third brake lamp would be the effect

I have a 2013 SS car only has 26,000 miles on it. My 3rd brake light was completly out, and had to be replaced. Think the bill came out to less than $300 but due to it being certified GM used. I got it covered under warranty.

The same issue on my 2010 RS. The 3rd brake light doesn't work at all. I brought this car used and never seen this light working. Are LED or simle bulb used in this light?

The 2013 is LED and to get to it you have to pull the rear seats apart to replace it... so the dealership told me. The part from dealership is about $170. When they did this to my car somehow they punctured one of my rear speakers as well. So diy use caution. They replaced the speaker free of charge as well.

There's only two wires.
Black wire is ground, white wire is power.

I understand it. I wanna try to find out where are other end of these wires. I heard what it takes too much time to reach 3rd light, so I gonna find these wire under dash and apply 12v on it.

Any chance it's a fuse somewhere? Find it hard to believe every LED goes out at once.

Nope, it's true. I just finished dealing with this issue. $124 for the led lights and almost two hours work to install it.
