Okay, so I browsed the search function on a few 2010 Camaro SS A/C issues, and nothing really led me any closer to a solution, so I thought I'd run it by the more technical crew here.
The issue is that the A/C will work for a while and then blows warm. The Volume of air is the same, so I'm guessing it isn't a freezing up evap, and the LED for the A/C compressor stays lit, so the request from the control panel is constant. I am fortunate enough to work in a shop, so I've already made sure the charge level is okay on the refrigerant, and the temp goes to a nice 45deg F when the system is working. I used a nifty little scan tool you can get from Matco called EZDiag, that uses any phone to get values, and it appears that the A/C control unit sees proper engine temp, and exterior temp, as well as A/C pressure. none of the values appear to change, except for "A/C request". When the system is working, "A/C request" is on (which makes sense, obviously), and it stops working when it is off. The LED stays on, and the value for "A/C shutdown request" does not display any value. It's like the A/C computer thinks I'm turning the A/C on and off repeatedly. I don't yet have a wiring schematic, but from what I can tell, the car has a simple fuse and relay for activating an A/C clutch, and I'm guessing a control unit controls that relay. Any ideas out there, or has anyone figured something out that would cause the car to think that I'm not keeping the A/C button pressed? Bad grounds, or power supplies to the control units? |

Had the same issue in my 2010. Dealer tried to tell me someone overcharged my a/c system. Which the fact that I was the original owner made that impossible. Never ended up sorting it out. Vehicle wasn't under warranty any longer so everytime I brought it in to get checked it was on my dime. Upgrading to zl1 was my fix. Goodluck

Have you connected a set of gauges to it and observe the pressure on both the liquid and suction lines while its running?
