1LE & ZL1

Okay, I kinda got the "itch" for that supercharger power when I swung by the dealership and there was a 15' ZL1 sitting on the lot. I called the wife and she said get it if you want it, what a woman! Well, it was bright red and... well a ZL1... As I stood there looking at the ZL1, a black Z28 and my gray 1LE I came to the conclusion that I like the looks of the 1LE the most out of all 3 of them. I know some of you will cringe when you here I didn't swap cars, but I love the 1LE!!! I think it's our front end that really sets it apart. Alright, I'm ready for the onslaught... bring it on

I agree with you. Just throw a supercharger on yours, or better yet, a turbo or two. I'm itchin for that Hellion kit

That's a pretty common viewpoint, actually. Most acknowledge the ZL1 is a beast but also like the 1LE look.

If I was inclined to spend the cash, I'd get the ZL1 and wrap the hood and have the calipers powder coated. Still doesn't tackle the front end difference though.

Let's face it ,just slapping on a turbo or SC will not make a 1LE a ZL1 or Z28. Bigger Diff, axles, brakes, suspension and lots more .And in the end a modded 1LE will not have a warrantee or a good resale value. So as much as we would like our 1LE's we all really wanted a Z28 or a ZL1 but could not afford or would not spend the money to get one. We got a great car for the money with the 1LE ,but if you think you could mod a 1LE to be as good and preform like either the ZL1 or Z28 with a factory warrantee without spending more than it would cost to just buy a ZL1 or Z28 your just kidding yourself.20 years from now a stock un molested ZL1 or Z28 will be collectable and worth a ton of money .And the ILE will be just be another used pony car. I bought mine for the cheap thrills it gives ,but I wanted a Z28 but just could not see spending that much on a toy.

For the price point, the 1LE is a helluva bargain. A Z it is not, but still, it's a fun add-on package at a great price that you cannot replicate for the cost of the option. You can't go wrong with any of them.

No offense, but you're completely wrong about your blanket statements. The Money was/is not the issue at all and I would never make the blanket statement saying such, it can be offensive and make you look like a know-it-all. I really don't care, I am just sharing an observation. And... I honestly don't have the skill to drive these wonderful vehicles to their peak anyway. But, I do believe the 1LE will be collectable along with the Z's... Just my opinion and we all know about opinions...
