Problem with USB on MyLinks

I just picked up a 2013 camaro a few days ago. I have been having multiple problems with the USB. When I plug in a USB with all my music on it, it doesn't always recognized it. After it finds it, it plays music fine. But when I shut my car off and turn it back on, it'll either not recognize it or it'll start back at the first song I have on thr USB. Really gets annoying fast and it's pointless to use if not on long trips. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix??

First, it's "MyLink". I doubt you have more than one.

Not all USB drives work well. Try using a different brand/model.

As for playback, there are options in the setup to control playback. Default I believe is numerical order. Mine is set to random or shuffle.

I, too, have run into this problem and for me it was related to how many files I had on the USB stick. I am currently using a Sandisk Ultra Fit USB 3.0 64GB flash drive and it works well. I was formerly using a Patriot Axel USB 2.0 64GB and I had a lot of performance problems using that drive. I also found that if you exceed the 10,000 file limit on your drive you will have indexing problems and the skipping back to the same file every time you startup the USB. Lastly, when I transferred files in Windows using Explorer, i would inadvertently copy all of the accessory files (e.g. THUMBS.DB, folder art files etc.) and these are counted in that 10,000 file limite. Eliminating these extraneous files from my USB drive freed up a lot of files...

That's great to know. My USB worked fine for few months then all files gone but one song. I re copied and worked for a few days then same thing. I now have a lot less songs on it and no problems. I will check out the info you provided. Thanks

I have had mine lock up a time or two, but other than that, and it could have been that I bumped it while in the console compartment, I have not had any problems in our 2014.

I keep it on shuffle also.

I have a problem with mine getting stuck on "fast forward" sometimes when I start the car, I have to change to another source and then back to USB to get rid of the chipmunks.

Exact same problem with my 2011 and my 2013. 2011 dealership bought back the car and replaced with the 2013. Every time i run into a store, doesn't matter the time, it doesn't recognize the usb or iPod. I have to unplug it then plug it back in to work. But it does start back where it left off in the song which is weird.

There is a 10,000 file limit as noted in the sticky in the audio section and the Infotainment User Manual.
